It often presents as a patina-like coating atop the quartz; in other instances, like these specimens, the presence of Limonite within the Quartz matrix imparts a lasting and unalterable colouration, rendering specimens amenable to acid-based cleaning procedures without compromising the vibrancy of their colouration. This new material is being sourced in Zambia and has a beautiful rich colour.
